Cowgirls To Play Pepperdine In WNIT Action


STILLWATER, Okla. — For the fifth-straight season, Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team will appear in postseason play after receiving a bid to participate in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament Monday evening.

The Cowgirls will begin action with a 16-14 record and will face Pepperdine (18-11 overall, 9-5 West Coast Conference) on Wednesday in Stillwater. Tip time will be announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The two teams have met twice with winning the first meeting in 1987 in Malibu, Calif., and the Waves taking the most recent matchup in Stillwater in 2002.

OSU’s berth marks the first time the program has reached the postseason in five consecutive years. During their current string, the Cowgirls have played in the Tournament in 2007, 2008 and 2010 as well as the in 2009.

The Cowgirls are 4-3 all time in the after posting a 1-1 mark two years ago. OSU’s last appearance saw the Cowgirls win their opening-round game against UT Arlington before falling in overtime at Arkansas.
