Cowgirls v. Tigers Suspended
Columbia, Mo. — Oklahoma State’s softball game against the Missouri Tigers here Friday afternoon has been suspended due to heavy rain and will resume Saturday morning at 12 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the regularly scheduled game 20 minutes following.
Missouri took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Ashley Fleming led off the inning with a base hit and was followed by back-to-back doubles by Lindsey Muller and Marla Schweisberger, the second scoring the first two runs of the game. Schweisberger advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Shana White and scored on another sac hit by Megan Christopher.
The Cowgirls scored their first run in the top of the third. Kelsey Anchors led off the inning with a walk and went to second on a single by leadoff hitter Mariah Gearhart. After Katelyn Bright failed to advance the runners on an attempted sacrifice bunt, Alysia Hamilton took a pitch off the arm and loaded the bases. Anchors scored on a sacrifice fly by Julie WardTamara Brown grounded out to end the inning.
After a scoreless bottom half of the inning, freshman Amy Graham beat out a slow roller to second base with one out for OSU in the top of the fourth. Chelsea Garcia pounded a 1-0 pitch over the wall in left field, tying the score at 3-3.
The game was suspended at 2:49 p.m. with a 3-1 count on Anchors. The game will continue from that point on Saturday.
