CRASHs Court Comes to Jenks Freshman Academy
Jenks Freshman Academy will be transformed into an actual courtroom on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, as the CRASHs (Courts Raising Awareness of Students in High School) Court will hear and sentence several defendants on drunk driving charges.
The Honorable Judge Mark Barcus will convene and preside over the Tulsa Country District Court, to hear the cases of several people under the age of 25 facing charges.
All Jenks High School freshmen will attend the event which begins at 1:00 p.m. in the High School Performing Arts Center. The students will witness first-hand the serious consequences of breaking the law.
Judge Barcus will then engage the students in an interactive dialogue focused around several poignant video clips, which graphically depict the catastrophic results when young people make poor critical life choices.
Students will then hear a victim impact speaker as to the details of their personal story of the tragic loss due to drinking and driving.
