More than 1,000 supporters from the greater Tulsa community helped kick off United Way’s 2009 Campaign at the 18th Annual Day of Caring Friday, Sept. 11 at the University of Tulsa’s Chapman Stadium.
The program included recognition of 9/11, the premiere of the 2009 campaign video and the Trailblazer campaign results.
The 10 Trailblazer companies, who run early campaigns to set the momentum for the whole campaign, announced their results, which totaled $1,206,604. This was a 12 percent increase for these companies over last year, and $13,000 over the original Trailblazer goal.
The 2009 Trailblazer companies were Expo Square, First United Bank of Sapulpa, Flintco, Grant Thornton, IC Bus of Oklahoma, Lafarge, McAfee & Taft, ONEOK, The Parent Child Center and Schnake Turnbo Frank PR.
After the program, more than 3,000 volunteers from more than 125 companies, worked all day to complete projects at TAUW’s 63 partner agencies
