Designer Showcase to Feature the McGuire Mansion

FIRST IN MAPLE RIDGE: The McGuire Mansion will be featured this year in the Designer Showcase, a fundraiser to benefit Tulsa Public Schools. The house is located at 1132 E. 18th St. in Tulsa.
Ever imagined what it would take to transform a historic Tulsa landmark into a contemporary, sophisticated treasure? A handful of talented designers want to show the community. The Tulsa Designer Showcase is coming back for another year.
The Tulsa Designer Showcase 2012 features the McGuire Mansion located at 1132 E. 18th St. The event runs from April 27 through May 20, 2012. Advance tickets can be purchased beginning April 1 for $12 at the following locations: The Market, William Sonoma, Windsor Market, The Home Collection at Utica Square, Lou’s Antiques, G.K. Griffin Designs, Debbie Zoller Designs and Midtown Market. Tickets purchased at the door are $15. The Tulsa Designer Showcase benefits The Foundation for Tulsa Schools, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding and implementing school programs designed to benefit the students of Tulsa Public Schools.
“The Designer Showcase has been a longstanding Tulsa tradition for 39 years. This year, the spectacular team of designers takes on the challenge of
restoring the 1914 Prairie School-style McGuire mansion to its original grandeur,” says Designer Showcase Coordinator Paula Dellavedova.
The McGuire mansion was the first home built in Tulsa’s historic Maple Ridge addition. The home was designed and built by John T. Blair for Byrd McGuire, who returned to Tulsa after serving four terms as the first congressman from the First Congressional District of Oklahoma. The McGuire family had an exquisite eye for detail and hand-selected each stone for the house. The stone was carried to the site from the Osage Hills by horse-drawn wagons.
The house has been through multiple owners over the years, but it is the current homeowners who have partnered with the Designer Showcase and the Foundation for Tulsa Schools; they are pleased to host the event and are thrilled about the home’s upcoming style makeover.
