Dismal First Half Dooms ORU at IPFW, 96-83
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts University women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a 15-point halftime deficit to fall to IPFW by a score of 96-83 on Monday night at Memorial Coliseum. The Golden Eagles had their winning streak snapped at seven games and drop to 16-8 overall and 10-3 in Summit League play. Kevi Luper (Adair, Okla.) posted her fourth double-double of the season to lead the Golden Eagles with 33 points and 11 rebounds. Luper was 10-of-29 from the field and 12-of-14 from the free-throw line. Jaci Bigham (McAlester, Okla.) tallied 17 points and handed out seven assists, while Janae Voelker (Newton, Kan.) added 11 points to surpass 1,300 career points. IPFW (12-12, 9-4) scored 57 first-half points, while shooting 72 percent (21-of-29) from the field and 73 percent (8-of-11) from 3-point range in the opening half. ORU shot 34 percent (29-of-86) from the field, 32 percent (7-of-22) from beyond the arc and 82 percent (18-of-22) from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded IPFW by a 48-42 margin. Anne Boese led the Mastodons with 26 points off six long-range buckets, while Stephanie Rosado added 24 points and nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles return to play on Saturday against IUPUI at the Mabee Center. |
