Don Walker, president and of Arvest Bank, will be honored May 3 at the 22nd Annual Business Excellence Dinner and Silent Auction benefiting Junior Achievement of Oklahoma.
The event will be held at the Tulsa Convention Center and will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 6 p.m. Funds raised from the auction will support Junior Achievement programs that will teach business principles to 46,000 students in Oklahoma during the 2012-13 academic year.
Walker will be presented with the J.A. Business Excellence Award, an award that is presented to an individual who has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, achieved success in his or her field, and contributed to the quality of life in the community.
“We look forward to honoring Don because of his commitment to business, education and the Tulsa community,” says Shannan Beeler, President of JA of Oklahoma. “His leadership in the community should be an inspiration to any student now learning about business and free enterprise through Junior Achievement.”
Many of Tulsa’s leading business executives will be in attendance, as well as several representatives from local schools.

Other awards to be announced include the J.A. Educator and Volunteer of the Year as well this year’s Junior Achievement Scholarship recipients. Dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m., followed by the award program and Walker’s acceptance speech at 8:30 p.m.
