Downtown Tulsa Deco Deli Opens

ATLAS RESIDENTS: Jake Robinson, co-owner and head chef for Deco Deli and Market, displays one of the restaurant’s salads. Deco Deli opened on Jan. 15 and offers breakfast and lunch dishes as well as pre-packaged, grab-and-go options.

On Jan. 15, the Deco District received a new breakfast and lunch option in the form of Deco Deli and Market. The restaurant and market are located in the Atlas Life Building, 415 S. Boston Ave.

The venture is a collaboration between co-owners Jeff Hartman, Ryan Hartman and Jake Robinson. When the storefront came available last year, the partners recognized it as an opportunity to improve on downtown’s lunchtime eating offerings and to upgrade the space itself.

The deli’s interior features the original granite from the 1922 building that has been repurposed into countertops and tables. Framed black and white photographs from the Tulsa Historical Society’s archives line the walls with a vivid mural of the Greek mythological character Atlas, by local artist William Franklin.

The menu focuses on fresh, seasonal and local produce from Progressive Produce. Among the deli’s offerings are sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and smoothies. There are also prepared foods and beverages, with box lunches and platters available for corporate business catering. For downtown residents, the market will take orders for staple groceries, such as milk, eggs, and bread.

Robinson will serve as Deco Deli’s head chef and is also the owner of the Atlas Grill. Robinson has more than 20 years of restaurant experience and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute. Hartman, owner of the Atlas Life Building and Courtyard by Marriott hotel, partnered with Robinson after seeing his success with the Atlas Grill. “Every weekday at lunch, people are lined up out the door at the Atlas Grill. He has been an excellent tenant, and I know he will do well with this concept, which will also compliment the hotel,” he says.

Deco Deli and Market hours are M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For catering orders, call 918-938-6858.
