BEAUTY: Black Beauty by Wayne Cooper will be shown at the Classic American Art Festival Feb. 20 at Emerald Falls in Broken Arrow

Emerald Falls Golf Club, a master-planned luxury community located in Broken Arrow, will present the Classic American Art First Annual 2009 Exhibition on Friday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. in the Clubhouse.

Art broker Bill Taitano, owner, Classic American Art, says, “We are very enthusiastic about this exhibition and the quality of work that we are presenting.” Included in the exhibition are Oklahoma’s own Wayne Cooper, Peni Cox, Tom Robb, Clancy Gray, Jack Wells, Carolyn Mock, Dana Tiger, Damian Arredondo, Richard T. Rowe, as well as nautical artist James A. Flood. Selected works will be available for purchase.

Taitano says, “Oklahoma has tremendous art talent. These artists produce remarkable work. This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for people to expand their knowledge of Oklahoma’s talent, heritage and culture, as well as acquire fine pieces for their homes or offices.”

He adds, “One of the evenings featured artists, Wayne Cooper, created a magnificent 20×8 mural depicting the A-1000 pipeline crossing the deep fork of Oklahoma’s Canadian River. The mural was a gift to ONEOK’s employees on the anniversary of ONEOK’s Centennial and hangs in the lower level of the ONEOK building in downtown Tulsa.”

History buffs attending the exhibition will be fascinated by James Flood’s original painting of the USS Oklahoma Battleship that was sunk at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Flood provided the original painting for display at the USS Oklahoma Survivors Reunion held in Oklahoma City in 2008. Seven survivors of the USS Oklahoma bombing signed the giclee, which will also be exhibited at the upcoming Classic American Art exhibition.

Throughout the evening guests will be able to visit with the artists as well as enjoy complimentary gourmet food and wine. Emerald Falls will offer a variety of hors d’ouvres and Glazer’s, one of Oklahoma’s largest marketers of fine wines and spirits, will offer a complimentary four course wine selection.

One fortunate guest will take home an original work by artist Tom Robb. Robb will donate “Bird Creek Bridge” to be part of a drawing taking place during the evening.
