EOOC FANS: Enjoying the annual Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center Barbecue in early August are, from left, the University of Tulsa connection of Jim “Country??? King, John Phillips, and Bill Kusleika. Kusleika and King were players at TU in the early 1960s, and Phillips, now the head basketball coach, was a student assistant for King in the 1970s when King was the head coach. King, an all-American at TU, went on to play for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA before coaching the Athletes in Action and then TU. Kusleika has served as a high school coach in the area since his graduation from TU. Area coaches and other sports dignitaries annually attend the EOOC Barbecue.
