Fall Into Inspirations From Across the Pond

A new take on classic British style is the trend for the colder months. Hounds-tooth, vivid plaids, jewel toned fabrics, jumpers, Mary Jane’s and crests everywhere are the underlying pieces that have been transformed from old world classics to new up to the minute trends.
Think of this trend as the new spin on classic formality. The classic black and gray wool plaid coat is both boring and safe. It doesn’t bring anything to the outfit. Take the boring plaid, add some puffy cuff sleeves and throw some magenta and green in with it; now it’s bold and exciting and really makes the outfit, (as long as it is put over some stone wash skinny jeans and the right pair of vintage leather sea foam green heels). For a little fun and flare add a pair of gold hoop earrings.
Houndstooth isn’t only brown and black and found only in men’s suiting any more. These days it can be found all over fashion. Look for houndstooth oversized and in bright fun colors, splashed on anything from purses to shoes. It can also be found as prints on blouses, skirts and trouser shorts. Remember this when wearing houndstooth: don’t combine it with an assortment of prints because it can be too over powering. Make the print the center of attention. Combine a deep purple silk blouse with a simple black pencil skirt paired with black and white houndstooth baby doll pumps. Don’t forget the key pieces to finish every outfit – the jewelry. A pair of simple diamond studs and a vintage gold charm necklace adorned with cascading keys with crests of fleur de lis and tassels to keep with the British theme.
The ever-so-boring brown jumper has even been reconfigured. It’s a little more fitted to accentuate the body and revamped in lipstick red. The jumper layered over a puffed sleeve button down shirt with a pair of tights and hot peep toe sling back pumps. The key piece of the out fit is a cute patent leather bow belt to accentuate the waist makes the outfit sophisticated sexy. Don’t forget the oversize cuff adorned with a crest and simple gold stud earrings. Now that the finishing touches have been put in place, the outfit is complete.
