Field House Opens at McLain H.S. for Science & Tech

The community celebrated the grand opening of new McLain High School for Science & Technology athletic complex, known as Titan Arena Nov. 21 at 4929 N. Peoria Ave. in Tulsa.
Students, teachers, parents and the community celebrated the grand opening of the new fieldhouse. After the celebration, guests were invited to stay for the school’s boys and girls basketball season opener.
The event included remarks by district officials, school leaders, and coaches. A welcome and class shoutouts were made by Student Council sponsors Diane D’Costa and Claire Lewis. Remarks were made by Superintendent Deborah Gist and board member Jennettie Marshall.
A performance by the McLain High School band led by band director Adrian Frank was enjoyed.
Introductions of the wresting, boys basketball and girls basketball team members were led by head varsity boys basketball coach Randy Rutherford, head varsity girls basketball coach Kashima Frierson, and head wrestling coach Rafael Maturino were held.
A Spirit Stick competition led by Student Council sponsors Diane D’Costa and Claire Lewis was held, and recognition of alumni and special guests were made by Athletic Director Philip Johnson and McLain Principal Renee Rabovsky
The project is part of a $415 million bond project passed by Tulsa voters in 2015. The new fieldhouse features two gyms, improved locker rooms, meeting and film rooms, a hospitality area and a spirit store.
