First GTR Cup Recap

Last year’s first annual Cup went off without a hitch. The high school hockey tournament featured Broken Arrow, Jenks, Union, and the Tulsa Comets hockey clubs playing at the Center.

The Union Redskins won the tournament after a first round defeat over rival Jenks 5-3 and a nail biter championship win over Broken Arrow 2-1.

Outstanding defense defined the tournament with Tiger goalie Skylar Allen accounted for 31 saves in the championship.

Union’s goalie and tournament , Brandon Smith accounted for 41 saves in the first round match against Jenks and made clutch stops to stave off a Broken Arrow power play in the waning minutes of the championship match.
