River Parks Authority dedicated the first completed three mile section of river trails on Oct. 30. The dedication ceremony took place at the gathering area located at 17th Street and Riverside Drive.

New trails from Southwest Boulevard to the Pedestrian Bridge on the east bank of the Arkansas River have been open for use since May, 2008 while landscaping, tree planting, park furniture and other amenities are now complete.

In February 2007 the George Kaiser Family Foundation pledged $12.4 million to enhance the river trails from 11th to 71st Streets on the park’s popular east and west banks of the Arkansas River.
