Flourishes by Brenda Walter is an interior design company located on Cherry Street that has brought a fresh twist to the decoration of homes and offices throughout greater Tulsa.

Walter is a unique artist and interior designer from Kohler, Wisconsin. She has been a consultant for Baker Furniture and a designer at several prestigious design firms in the Kohler and Mequon, Wisconsin areas. She has done interior design and faux painting in locations across the United States, including Chicago, Orlando, St. Louis and many others.

Walter has used her talents on such prestigious projects as the Wisconsin home of Ralph Stayer, the nationally-prominent businessman who owns Johnsonville Sausage. Fortunately for people of this area, Walter has brought her nearly 20 years of experience to Oklahoma.

What sets Flourishes by Brenda Walter apart from other, similar companies? “Our store is not ordinary,” Brenda explains. “There is drama and also class in my design. I offer classically styled rooms with a fresh twist.” Walking through her showroom, everyone can experience the past, present, and future of design.

There are many examples of Walter’s work throughout the showroom and in her portfolio, including murals, faux painting, decorative cabinets and other surface finishes. Her work can be seen in the newer Family and Children’s Services building on 21st street in Tulsa. The giraffes in the mural look warm, kind, and inviting, and help children going through severe times and counseling to feel better. Her murals encompass animals, famous faces such as Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Babe Ruth, geometrics, and floral scenes to name a few. Walter can paint anything from a customer’s photograph to a person’s imagination.

Flourishes by Brenda Walter offers the complete design of a room, including wall finishes, flooring, lighting, window treatments and upholstery, custom cabinetry, furniture, floral arrangements, and even holiday decorating. Samples of stone, tile, cabinet glazes and finishes, Persian and Sisal carpet, and much more is on display in the showroom.

Flourishes offers a wide spectrum of looks, from the very traditional to modern and contemporary design. “ For me, each person is unique, and I design for each person individually. I do not give everyone a stamped look,” she says. “I try to interpret the personality and style of the customer in the décor and feel of the room, while maintaining the elements of good interior design.”

Flourishes also carries a large line of unique accessories including handbags, gifts, jewelry, shawls and wraps, along with fun tabletop items. They have the Teresa Goodall jewelry line, which includes unique necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Flourishes also carries jewelry, purses, and table linens from India and Africa at very affordable prices. From France, Flourishes exclusively offers European window panels, room sprays, eau-de-colognes, candles, bath gels and oils, soaps, chandeliers and sconces, along with gorgeous bedding. Candles, room sprays, soaps and bath salts from the American company, Votivo Flowers, are also wonderful and offered in lilac, jasmine, and rose scents.

“We have furniture and accessories from India, France, Mexico, Italy, Africa, Asia, and the United States. We offer a diversified showroom in which everyone can find something they like.”

Right now, Flourishes is having a sale on their custom ready-made silk panels. The store carries a great variety of colors and patterns including plaids, embroidered dots, embroidered flowers, stripes, silk organza sheers in six colors and solid silk panels in 18 colors. These panels add a great designer look to any home, and Flourishes can also make matching bedding from each of these fabrics.

Antique lovers are welcome to the store, as well as those searching for the “Old World” look. ”Our line of iron chandeliers and European antiques can make anyone feel right at home,” she adds.
