George Kaiser Family Foundation Gives to Nonprofits
George Kaiser Family Foundation () recently announced that it will give more than $6.7 million in social services grants to Tulsa-area nonprofit agencies. awards social services grants annually to support local organizations that are aligned with ’s mission to provide equal opportunity for every child in Tulsa.
This year, distributed these grants among four sectors: basic needs, community health, education, and support services for children, youth and families.
“Tulsa’s social services community plays an essential role in ensuring that tens of thousands of children and families have access to critical services, often having life and death consequences,” says Ken Levit, executive director. “At a time when the state has not been able to meet even basic obligations in health and education, these organizations are playing a heroic role.”
collaborated with local partners to identify the most urgent social service needs facing the community and the corresponding programs and agencies able to address these problems.
Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Inc. (), a provider of comprehensive services for women, men and children affected by domestic and sexual violence, is the recipient of a $300,000 grant.
Family & Children’s Services is a leading provider of behavioral healthcare and services for children and families and will receive $460,000.
This year, Center for Employment Opportunities () and Tulsa Habitat for Humanity have teamed up allowing participants the opportunity to gain work experience while furthering the Habitat for Humanity mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Tulsa Habitat for Humanity was awarded $150,000.
