Girl Scouts Announces Events

As a new school year begins, Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma (GSEOK) is announcing a series of upcoming events.
On Sept. 24, GSEOK will hold a community open house at its new 30,000-square-foot office building: the Hardesty Leadership Center at 4810 S. 129th East Ave.
On Sept. 27, 7-8 p.m., GSEOK will hold a Girl Scouts rally at its new headquarters to provide information to girls interested in joining a troop and to adults regarding ways to get involved as a troop leader or support volunteer.
On Oct. 8, GSEOK will hold its annual Thin Mint Sprint, in support of the organization’s health and wellness initiative.
The event will take place at Bentley Park in Bixby, with the Tag-a-long Trot, a 1-mile fun run, to begin at 6:30 p.m. and the 5K Glow Run at 7 p.m. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age category and each 5K finisher receives a box of Thin Mints. Those who are interested in supporting Girl Scouts without racing can register as Virtual Runners or as a Rah-Rah Raisin cheerleaders.
Participants are encouraged to wear bright costumes. The event will also include a variety of activity stations. Last year’s event saw more than 500 participants from the Tulsa area.
Girl Scouts is the only girl-led leadership development organization in the country. The organization endeavors to provide a multi-faceted approach to youth development through a research-based curriculum and creative programming that focuses on emotional and social well-being, physical health, nutrition and physical fitness.
GSEOK serves more than 10,000 girls and 2,200 volunteers across eastern Oklahoma.
