Girl Scout Cookie Sales Begin

Magic Empire Council Girl Scouts are now taking orders for Girl Scouts cookies. This year, two new cookies are being introduced: Lemon Chalet Cremes and Sugar Free Chocolate Chip.

Lemon Chalet Cremes are a sandwich cookie with a hint of cinnamon-ginger spice. Sugar Free Chocolate Chip cookies are made with real chocolate chips and are an alternative for those with dietary restrictions.

The 2008 sale will take place Jan. 19-March 31. Between Jan. 19 and Feb. 3, Girl Scouts will take orders. Delivery begins March 1 and will continue, along with booth sales, through the end of March. All cookies are $4 per box.

Money earned from cookie sales stays within the local council. A percentage of the cost goes to the girl’s troop for activities including service projects. Girls can also earn “Cookie Credit,” which can be used for resident camps, trips and other enrichment programs. Proceeds going to the council are used to underwrite all programs for scouts, maintain camps and facilities and provide financial assistance and outreach support.

Magic Empire Council uses the cookie program to help girls develop leadership skills such as responsibility, communication, finance and math, entrepreneurship, self-reliance and confidence, teamwork, goal setting and planning, and honesty and integrity. Cookie sales also further the Girl Scout mission of building girls’ courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place.

Magic Empire Council has a Cookie Line for those wishing to order cookies. To place an order, call (918) 749-2551 and press 7.
