KOLLEEN CRUSE: Left, before accessories; right, after accessories.

Every season has its “It” accessory but this season is filled with a plethora of them. They are versatile, fun, classy and inexpensive. Lets face it, in this economy being able to transform one outfit into five is a hot commodity. Start the year out right with great winter accessories and the “New Year New You” fashion makeover coming up at Isabella’s in Brookside.

How many times have I stressed accessories make the outfit? Well, actions speak louder than words so I intend to prove it to you.

I’ve taken a picture of one of my patrons before accessories and after I have styled her with accessories. Now you can be the judge. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Even better, every generation can join in on these accessory trends. It is just a matter of color, pattern and style. If you’re younger, go for the brighter tights, leggings and legwarmers. You can mix patterns as long as you stay in the same color range. I have many clients ask for skinny denim. The rule here is tight on bottom loose on top. This is how you achieve classy with a trendy edge, which in my opinion should be a goal at any age. If you’re 35 and up, go for grays, purples and jewel tones; but wear them on top instead of bottom. On your bottom half stay monochromatic or tie in an argyle tight with a basic pencil skirt, boots or Mary Jane’s.

Ladies and gentlemen accept free help. Bring in an outfit from your closet. Something that still has the tags attached or something you simply don’t know what to combine it with, and I will style you for free. Are you telling me you don’t want something for nothing? Oh right, there is always a catch. Nope no catch here; it is called personal boutique service.

My fave part of what I do is to push people just a little (sometimes a lot) out of their little box. Change is good. You can easily and inexpensively re-create your wardrobe at any age and it is life changing.

We’re coming up on a New Year so start thinking about whom you would like to nominate for the “New Year New You” fashion makeover. You can even write in to nominate yourself. Why not start now? Email why you or a friend or loved one needs or deserves a full head to toe makeover by the best of the best in Tulsa for fashion, skin, hair and make-up and a night out on the town. You say you never win anything? Well give it a try. You never know when your time is now. Send entries to Isabellas@peoplepc.com. The winner will be contacted via email.
What are you waiting for? Time is a tickin’.
