TULSA— Dominique Morrison (Kansas City, Mo.) scored a game-high 24 points but the Golden Eagles suffered a 76-73 setback to Summit League foe IPFW, Tuesday at Mabee Center.

The Mastodons (8-4 overall, 3-0 Summit) shot 60 percent in the second half and held off an ORU (5-9, 2-1) rally in the final three minutes. IPFW led by as many as 12 points in the second half, and led 74-63 with 3:33 remaining before the Golden Eagles stormed back.

A jumper by Steven Roundtree (Jacksonville, Fla.) and a pair of free throws by Damen Bell-Holter (Hydaburg, Alaska) pulled ORU to within 74-67 with 2:13 to play. A jumper by Morrison and a layup by Bell-Holter made it 74-71 with 1:01 to go.

After IPFW’s Antwaun Botd missed a layup with 28 seconds left, Morrison sank a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining as ORU moved to within 74-73, the closest the Golden Eagles had been since a tie late in the first half.

With ORU forced to foul, Jeremy Mixon made a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left and Morrison and Bell-Holter each missed potential game-tying three-pointers in the final seconds as IPFW got the win.

IPFW led 33-28 at halftime.

Ben Botts led IPFW with 20 points. Mixon came off the bench with 15 points, including 13 in the second half while Frank Gaines added 14 points and five boards.

IPFW shot 50 percent for the game, including a 7-of-17 effort from three-point range. The Mastodons were 17-of-20 from the free throw line, and committed just 11 turnovers.

ORU shot 47 percent from the field, but made just 3-of-18 from three-point land. The Golden Eagles continued their recent strong free throw shooting, going 22-of-30 from the stripe.
