Golden Hurricane Basketball Continues Improvement

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane had a successful start in the NIT Tournament. Coupled with last year’s CBI Championship, the Hurricane is obviously improving with hopes for an NCAA appearance next year.
In retrospect, there were some frustrating moments on the season, but this is one of the hardest fighting teams this author can remember. And don’t overlook that this team has won over 25 games and lost by only one at the buzzer against Memphis, a number two seed in the NCAA. The Hurricane also has an outstanding win over a very good Northwestern team, who beat Purdue and Michigan State earlier this year. Both Purdue and MSU are in the NCAA with a five and two seeds respectively.
The Hurricane is loaded with accolades on the season. Sam Mitchell and Steven Idlet were both named to the Conference-USA All-Academic team. Tulsa is the only squad in the league to put two players on the team. Ben Uzoh is a second-team selection for the NABC All-District team and second-team All-Conference team. Jerome Jordan made the first-team NABC All-District team and the first-team All-Conference team.
Look forward to next year as this team is only losing two players. These guys are talented, hard working, well coached and by next year, watch out Memphis!
