Governor’s Tulsa Gala

Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry celebrated his second term with First Lady Kim Henry, left, and Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor along with approximately 330 friends and supporters in Tulsa at the historic Mayo Hotel Ballroom on Jan. 6.

The governor also held his inaugural gala at the Mayo four years ago when he won his first election. The black-tie event began the first of three days of inaugural activities, ending Jan. 8 when Henry took his oath of office on the steps of the state Capitol and attended a gala in Oklahoma City that night. Mrs. Henry wore a light-blue dress meant to match the color of the state flag in honor of Oklahoma’s centennial year, and a blue motif embellished the evening highlighted by blue lights shining over the exterior columns of the Mayo in downtown Tulsa. The ball was paid for by private and corporate donations, according to co-chairwoman Margaret Erling.
