Nationally acclaimed air show acts took flight in Tulsa and brought added life to the city’s rich aerospace industry when the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium hosted the QT Air and Rocket Racing Show in Tulsa Saturday, April 24. The show included spectacular civilian aerobatic demonstrations and thrilling performances, including a rocket racing demonstration by the Rocket Racing League.

“The QuikTrip Air and Rocket Racing Show is an economic development opportunity for the city of Tulsa,” says Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett. “This is a great opportunity to showcase our city and strong commitment to the aerospace community. If there’s anything that showcases the future and our city’s capabilities, it’s aerospace.”

Performers included the Rocket Racing League, military aircraft, Captain Kyro and Scandalous Scarlett, Kyle Franklin, Matt Younkin, Paul Jennings, Travel Air Mystery Ship, Greg Shelton, Ashley Battels and the Tulsa Warbirds.

The air show drew at least 40,000 spectators. More could have seen the show. However, attendance exceeded what the Tulsa Police Department expected and they were not prepared for the volume. TASM ensures better traffic flow for future events.
TASM is honoring unused tickets throughout May by offering free admission to the Museum with those tickets. TASM is also hosting a special weekend, May 22 and 23, where they will be honoring unused tickets.
