Grissom Running Club Breaks 10,000 miles
Grissom Elementary is getting students up and running. The school’s 101 Mile Club will mark an incredible effort this week, breaking 10,000 miles.
The club is made up of K-5 grade students and meets early in the morning, Monday-Thursday. Students receive punch cards to log how many miles they run during the school year with the ultimate goal of reaching 100 miles.
“The first year we only had nine students cross the 100-mile mark. The next year it was 13, then 31… it just keeps growing,” says Mike Mills, Grissom’s PE teacher.
This is the second year in a row that the club has logged 10,000 miles. Superintendant Dr. Ballard will also be on hand to help celebrate this outstanding achievement.
