The Oklahoma Community Theatre Association is proud to announce the results from OCTAFest 2004-2005, the statewide festival of community theatre, held July 8–11, 2004 on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. Heller Theatre of Tulsa’s production of Lee Blessing’s “Eleemosynary” was chosen as Outstanding Production and will represent Oklahoma at the American Association of Community Theatre’s Region VI Festival to be held April 20–24, 2005 in Lawton.
“Heller Theatre’s production was the clear favorite of both the adjudicators and the audience,” says OCTA Executive Director Michael Jones.
Another production of “Eleemosynary,” presented by the Cynthia Poteet Little Theatre in Oklahoma City, was chosen as the alternate representative.
Heller Theatre won the Outstanding Production award, the audience choice Standing Ovation Award, and the Theatre of the Year. Director Julie Tattershall won the Achievement in Directing award.
Three members of the Heller Theatre “Eleemosynary” cast were named to the All State Cast. They include Rita Boyle, for her portrayal of Dorothea; Annie Ellicott, for her portrayal of Echo; and Karen Evans, for her portrayal of Artie.
OCTAFest 2004–2005 and all programs and services of the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association are presented with assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
