Hurricane Softball Ranked 18/19, Best Finish in Program History
The Tulsa softball team is ranked No. 18/19 in the final national Top 25 polls, capping its record-setting 2014 season with the highest final national rankings in program history.
The Golden Hurricane appears at No. 18 in the Today/ Division I Top 25 and No. 19 in the .com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll. TU last ended a season with a top-25 ranking in 2011 when it finished 24th in the poll.
The Hurricane was ranked No. 18 in both polls on May 13, just before the start of the postseason. TU climbed as high as No. 15 in the Softball poll and No. 17 in the poll, both on April 8.
Tulsa posted a 53-9 record, won its fifth Conference regular season championship, its fourth C- tournament title, and made its seventh Tournament appearance. The Hurricane played within one win of advancing to the Super Regionals, and set 19 team single season school records. The list of records includes: wins, fewest losses, batting average (.325), runs (368), hits (553), (333), home runs (59), slugging percentage (.504), on-base percentage (.404), pitching strikeouts (479) and opponent batting average (.183).
