I-44 Projects Continue

STAND: The I-44 bridge spanning Harvard was recently demolished to make room for a better commute. It will soon be replaced with a wider bridge. The above photo caught the action of demolition during the midnight hour.
Crews worked overnight and finished the project ahead of schedule. The highway is being widened from four lanes to six along the Harvard Avenue corridor. The improvements fall under the $360 million widening project, which extends from Riverside to Yale on I-44. It is expected to be completed by 2013.
