Indoor Swimming Lessons at ORU’s Kenneth H. Cooper Aerobics Center

is offering some great swim lessons this year. They have some excellent, enthusiastic teachers who are excited about teaching your child to swim.

Swimming skills are particularly important to learn as children, when exercise and activity, as well as social interaction, are crucial to development. If you’ve ever taken swim lessons and need a reason to have your children take them, consider your own experience with swimming. Have you swam with friends, swam for fun, and even swam for exercise? There’s virtually no limit to the possibilities of swimming, and that’s what you’ll want to keep in mind as you consider the viability of real swimming instruction.

Swimming also opens up a range of other possible activities – who would want to own a house on the lake unless they could swim? Or go sailing? Or deep-sea fishing, white-water rafting, or surfing?

Swimming is a basic skill that many of us take for granted – and even if you have experience with swimming whithout an instructor, you’ll be better at it if you do. And you’ll be more confident during water activities, while boating, and while near the water in general.

A critical element that enables our swimmers to succeed is our staff. We have assembled a staff of trained and enthusiastic people. It is their commitment and passion for teaching children and their love of swimming that is essential in creating an environment where swimmers thrive and progress quickly. All instructors undergo a training program to ensure quality and consistency in all of
our lessons.

Director DENISE WESTFALL has been coaching and instructing swim lessons for over 20 years.
