Jingle Bells Run is Dec. 9

Scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9, the Jingle Bells run will take place in Brookside at 35th Street and Peoria Avenue and will feature a 1-K Fun Run/Walk and Holiday Costume Contest at 9 a.m. and a 5-K Run/Walk and Wheelchair Race at 9:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the Run/Walk will go to support research and education programs for the Arthritis Foundation.
Pre-registration for the event is $20 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under and includes a Jingle Bell Run/Walk long-sleeved shirt. Five dollars will be added to the registration fee the day of the race. Dog registration is $5 and they must be on a leash and accom- panied by a registered participant. Participants can pre-register online at http://jbrtulsa.kintera.org.
Packet pick-up will be December 2-8 at Runner’s World located at 4329 S. Peoria. Registration the day of the race begins at 8 a.m. at 33rd and Peoria.
The 5K (3.1 miles) and 1K (.6 mile) courses are open to people of all ages and abilities. The 5K course continues north on Peoria Avenue to Woodward Park, east through the park, north to 21st Street, west on 21st Street, and south on Peoria Avenue to the finish at 35th and Peoria. The 5K is a sanctioned event and certified course, officiated by Glen’s Road Race Service. Strollers and dogs on leashes are allowed only on the 1K Fun Run/Walk.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in each race, the top three finishers in each standard age group, the top fund-raisers (individual and team) and the best holiday costumes. For more information, call (918) 495-3553, or email jferguson@arthritis.org.
