John Hope Franklin to be Honored at Banquet
The Greenwood Cultural Center, Inc. is proud to honor Dr. John Hope Franklin with its third annual Legacy Award on Thursday, April 19. The Legacy Award Dinner, to be held at the Greenwood Cultural Center, 322 North Greenwood Avenue, begins a 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a 6:30 p.m. reception.
Dr. Franklin’s remarkable and inspiring life of scholarship, achievement, and accomplishment is a source of pride and hope, not just for African-Americans, but all Americans. Dr. Franklin is precisely the caliber of individual whom GCC wishes to hold high as a role model for the community in general, and for our children in particular. As a former Tulsan and one of the nation’s greatest historians, Dr. Franklin is exceptionally well acquainted with the significance of Greenwood’s history and its current legacy. For these reasons, GCC proudly salutes Dr. John Hope Franklin, a living legend.
The GCC Legacy Award Dinner is co-chaired by Ken Levit, Executive Director, George Kaiser Family Foundation, and Julius Pegues, Design Committee Chairperson, John H. Franklin Greenwood Museum Of Reconciliation. It is the single fund-raising event sponsored by GCC and provides vital financial support for our critical work in the Tulsa community.
