Kevin T. Blake to Speak at Cascia Hall
Kevin T. Blake, Ph.D., P.L.C. is an expert on learning disabilities, ADHD and other diagnoses that create learning challenges for adolescents and adults. He will speak in the Helmerich Theater at the Cascia Hall Performing Arts Center on Monday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. His presentation is sponsored by Cascia Hall Preparatory School; it is opened to the public and offered free of charge.
Dr. Blake was born and raised in Tulsa and graduated from Cascia Hall Preparatory School. As a student at Cascia Hall, neither he nor anyone else knew he was born with dyslexia and a hearing impairment. His interest in learning disabilities and AD/HD were spurred by his own struggles trying to overcome his dyslexia and hearing impairment, which were diagnosed during the first year of his doctoral program at age 26. At the time, the early 1980s, not much was known about adults with learning disabilities. Dr. Blake has specialized for over 20 years in learning disabilities and AD/HD and lives and works as a licensed psychologist in Tucson, Ariz.
Dr. Blake received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame, in Notre Dame, Ind. He has a master’s degree in community counseling and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Finally, he did his pre-doctoral internship at the Student Counseling Services at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
Dr. Blake is a published author with articles having appeared in Attention!, LDA Newsbriefs and Perspectives (of the International Dyslexia Association).
