King of the Zoo Turns Two

Zuber, one of the first lion cubs born at the Tulsa Zoo in 16 years turned two years old recently. He was given a large popsicle to enjoy. Zuber, along with brother Thabo, were born to father Kofi and mother Shatari in March of 2009.
Thabo relocated to his new home at the Memphis Zoo in early March as part of the Species Survival Plan, or “SSP”, and it is hoped he will soon be a proud papa himself. Zuber remains at the Tulsa Zoo until he can be placed with a female and start a family of his own.
The Tulsa Zoo is proud to participate in the conservation of lions through these programs. As populations of African lions continue to dwindle, the efforts of zoos are more important than ever.
