Kosgei Notches Top Five Time in Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State’s Cowboy track team finished its second and final day of competition at the John McDonnell Invitational on Saturday.
Cowboy senior John Kosgei led the way for the Cowboys, crossing the line in 3:45.49 to finish second in the 1,500 meter run invite race. The Eldoret, Kenya, native now owns a top-five time in the West Region for the 2010 outdoor season.
With Kosgei’s mark, the Cowboys are in good position to have two qualifiers in the 1,500 meter run at the West Region Championships. Johnathan Stublaski clocked a 3:46.56 earlier in the season.
Sophomore Raul Botezan notched a top-25 time for the 2010 outdoor season in the West Region. The Cluj-Napoca, Romania, native clocked a 1:50.47 to finish in second place in the 800 meter run invite race.
Freshman Taylor Monaghan ran the fastest 1,500 meter time of his young Cowboy career with a 3:59.01 in the open race.
The Cowboys return to action next week with runners being sent to the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., and the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.
