KUDOS OF THE MONTH: OK Mozart for 30 Years

AMICI NEW YORK ORCHESTRA

The widely-acclaimed and Bartlesville-based OK Mozart International Festival launches its 30th season June 7-14 with the “Music of Vienna” as its theme.

OK Mozart Executive Director Dr. Randy Thompson says, “For the past 30 years, OKM’s mission has been to bring the highest quality professional musical and cultural experience possible to Oklahoma.” This year, in addition to its classical and chamber music series, OK Mozart also offers a variety of jazz, pops and Broadway show tunes plus a daytime program of showcase events, including mini-concerts, talks, tours, demonstrations and art exhibits. Major nighttime concerts are held at the Bartlesville Community Center.

According to Artistic Director Constantine Kitsopoulos, the season will showcase nationally renowned artists such as pianist Jon Kimura Parker, three-time Grammy nominee Sarah Jarosz, and one of America’s highest-profile chamber groups, the dynamic Miró Quartet.

Opening night will bring a new air of excitement with the introduction of the OK Mozart All-State Youth Orchestra that will play with the Amici New York orchestra.
The Woolaroc Outdoor Concert will offer favorites as also played by the Amici New York orchestra. Tchaikovky’s 1812 Overture will be accompanied by the sounds of cannons and the visual thrill of fireworks.
