KUDOS OF THE MONTH: Oklahoma MS Society

The Oklahoma Chapter of the National MS Society has become greatly involved in the Tulsa community through education, support and outreach.

The Society brings together individuals who hope to one-day see a world without Multiple Sclerosis.

These individuals help raise awareness about the challenges that come along with having Multiple Sclerosis. Everyone involved works toward helping those affected by funding new research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education and providing programs and services.

Core values of the Society include commitment, leadership, integrity, excellence and teamwork.

The Chapter hosts a variety of events throughout the year in order to share these core values with and to lend a helping hand to individuals throughout the community.

The annual Tulsa Walk MS is one of the most popular events that the Society hosts during the year. Walk MS, held April 24, is a wonderful event to bring for the entire family to enjoy. The beautiful three-mile path begins at Temple Israel and winds through historic neighborhoods. The event helps raise both funds and awareness.

Bike MS has become a much-anticipated event in the Tulsa area. Cyclists travel from Tulsa to Oklahoma City along historic Route 66. Other events that are held throughout the year include Challenge Walk, Dinner of Champions, MS Awareness Week and the Women on the Move Luncheon.

Without volunteers, the Society would not be possible. A new perspective can greatly impact the chapter while a helping hand impacts lives. Past and present volunteers are honored once a year during the National MS Society’s Annual Meeting.

The MS Society’s Tulsa office is located at 4606 East 67th Street, Suite 103. For additional information, visit www.nationalmssociety.org or call (918) 488-0882.
