KUDOS OF THE MONTH: Parent Child Center of Tulsa

The mission of the Parent Child Center of Tulsa is to provide outreach, education, prevention, treatment and advocacy services to those in need. The organization has formed a number of creative ways to reach out to over 12,000 individuals in the community each year.
The Parent Child Center of Tulsa is enhanced with the Advocacy Committee and the Parenting Resource Library, which offers an array of books on relevant topics for all ages.
The Parent Child Center of Tulsa also offers counseling for those in need. The Compassion Workshop helps individuals recognize ways to create more positive spousal and parental relationships. The Responsibility Process Group is designed to help those who have lost custody of their children to form parental roles as well as a support system.
The Parenting Education Program teaches parents how to identify and provide a healthy home environment. Topics of the program include family rules, understanding feelings, self-worth through labels, expectations, problem solving and decision making among many others.
To raise awareness about the organization, a variety of events are held throughout the year. Each spring, Renaissance Hotel hosts the Hope for the Children Luncheon in which the entire community enjoys learning about current projects to help raise awareness about child abuse. Also held are Toyland Ball, Shamrock Project, Chili Bowl and Kitchens a la’ Tulsa.
The Parent Child Center of Tulsa works closely beside Family and Children’s Services, Child Abuse Network, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, Youth Services of Tulsa and Domestic Violence Intervention Services.
