KUDOS OF THE MONTH: PSO for 100 Years

CENTURY OF SERVICE: May 29 marks the 100-year milestone for PSO.
Currently, more than 500,000 Oklahomans receive their electrical energy from 100-year-old company (Public Service Company of Oklahoma). The company was incorporated on May 29, 1913. customers span 230 cities and towns across 30,000 square miles of eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.
The company is headquartered in Tulsa, with regulatory and external affairs offices in Oklahoma City. In 1978, completed renovation of the downtown structure that had served as Tulsa’s Central High School building for 60 years, transforming it into ’s headquarters office. The company later received the Landmark Award from the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture for preserving the historic building.
is part of the American Electric Power system, which is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, delivering electricity to more than five million customers in 11 states. ranks among the nation’s largest generators of electricity, owning nearly 38,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the U.S. also owns the nation’s largest electricity transmission system.
’s transmission system directly or indirectly serves about 10 percent of the electricity demand in the Eastern Interconnection, the interconnected transmission system that covers 38 eastern and central U.S. states and eastern Canada, and approximately 11 percent of the electricity demand in ERCOT, the transmission system that covers much of Texas.
