KUDOS OF THE MONTH: Reasor’s for 50 Years

1963 marked the beginning for Reasor’s, when Larry Reasor opened his first grocery store in Tahlequah. 50 years later, the company is going strong, with stores throughout Northeastern Oklahoma. The newest Reasor’s opened in Bixby in 2012.
Reasor opened his first store with big dreams of future growth but knew that he must start small and concentrate on providing customers with, as Reasor’s motto goes, “The Right Stuff, The Right Price.”
“Larry’s mission was to be the best place to work and shop,” says Allen Mills, president of Reasor’s. “That mission remains true today. If we have good communication with employees and we all have the common goal to care for customer expectations, the rest, including being the best place to shop, will come.”
Reasor’s was family owned until 2007, when it became an employee-owned company. Today, Reasor’s has 17 locations and two convenience stores and employs nearly 3,000 people, quite an increase from its start of 25 employees.
In his 44 years with Reasor’s, Mills has seen numerous company changes, such as the addition of new departments and growth of product selection. Reasor’s has grown from carrying close to 10,000 products to 80,000.
