KUDOS OF THE MONTH: Saint Simeon’s Episcopal Home

EXPERIENCED STAFF: Saint Simeon’s employees collectively have over 1,000 years of service.
Saint Simeon’s Episcopal Home is celebrating 50 years of loving service to its residents and their families. The original apartments opened in 1960 welcoming 12 residents in the first year. Today, Saint Simeon’s is able to serve 200 residents and is recognized as a leader in senior living.
The recent $23.3 million expansion includes the 60-apartment Dotson Family Assisted Living Center that replaced the original apartments, and the new Bishop Robert M. Wellness Center, featuring a warm, water saline pool and exercise equipment. These represent Saint Simeon’s latest additions to the many amenities and services offered to improve the quality of life for each resident. Saint Simeon’s also offers independent Cottage Living, the Health Care Center for those needing nursing care, and the Memory Center for persons with Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
As part of the year-long anniversary celebration, a 50 year history was written by a committee of volunteers. A special Society of Saint Simeon’s campaign to encourage supporters to include Saint Simeon’s in their estate plans was launched. Many special events have been planned for the 50th year including Western Days 2010 “Golden Anniversary Gusher” which will be held on Sept. 14 at Central Park Hall in Square.
Lindsay Hurley Fick, Saint Simeon’s President/CEO states, “In the tradition of Saint Simeon’s, our loving and creative volunteers have worked together to help make our 50-year anniversary fun and uplifting for our residents and their families.”
