KUDOS OF THE MONTH: The AFP

Giving is a good thing and the professionals in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Eastern Oklahoma Chapter have been helping those in the Tulsa area become philanthropists for 22 years.

The chapter will celebrate the spirit of philanthropy Friday, Nov. 18 at its Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon by recognizing those individuals and organizations who so generously give of their time, talents and treasures to countless causes and missions throughout our communities. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the DoubleTree Warren Place.

This year’s event will recognize Joe and Patty Cappy as the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers; Patti Johnson Wilson as Outstanding Philanthropist; and Susan McCalman as Outstanding Fundraising Executive. For the second year, the chapter will also present an Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy award. This year’s recipient is Tiffany Grant. A special Pillar Award will be presented to Jay Litchfield, premier auctioneer, in recognition of his special philanthropic spirit to nonprofit organizations throughout the area.

“The spirit of giving is alive and well,” says Marlo Duffy, president of the chapter. “Not only is this event our opportunity to thank those who do so much to help so many, but it is an opportunity for us to remind the community that everyone can be a philanthropist through the donation of the money, talent and time.”

Reservations for the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon are $35 per person, available until November 9. Make checks payable to AFP National Philanthropy Day and mail to Martha Desmond, American Heart Association, 2227 East Skelly Drive, Tulsa, Okla., 74105.
