KYAL – 97.1 FM The Sports Animal Becomes Tulsa’s Texas Rangers Affiliate
The Sports Animal announces it will be the new radio home for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club for the upcoming 2010 season.
A 2-year agreement (with an option for 2011) has been reached for 97.1 FM to carry more than 86% of Rangers games with the remainder being aired on AM 1550 and/or AM 1490.
The Sports Animal program director, Kevin Ward says, “we’re proud to be the new home of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have become one of the most consistently competitive teams in the American League and have a natural Regional tie to Green Country.”
Rangers Executive Vice President of Communications, John Blake adds, “The Texas Rangers are very excited about the addition of 97.1 FM to our radio network. We look forward to our fans in Tulsa and all of Eastern Oklahoma receiving the most comprehensive Rangers coverage ever.”
The Sports Animal had been a Kansas City Royals affiliate the past 3 seasons. The Sports Animal, 97.1FM is also simulcast on AM 1550 and AM 1490 and is affiliated with 100.9FM and -Muskogee 100.3FM – Contemporary Christian stations.
