Last week to apply for Fix Our Streets Sales Tax Rebate


Even if you’ve already filed your taxes and spent your refund, there’s still time to apply for the City of Tulsa’s $25 Sales Tax Rebate for Fix Our Streets. The application deadline is April 15, 2011. Residents who are mailing them to the City of Tulsa should make sure they are postmarked by April 15.

Rebate recipients must be Tulsa residents and meet one of the following criteria: age 65 or older by the end of 2010; eligible for either Oklahoma Sales Tax Relief or the Oklahoma Earned Income Tax Credit. Rebates are limited to one per household. Applicants should refer to the form for complete requirements.

Residents can obtain application forms in several ways:
? At City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St. – City Clerk on Street Level
? By request from the Mayor’s Action Center, 596-2100
? Online through the City of Tulsa website, http://www.cityoftulsa.org/our-city/sales-tax-rebate-form.aspx

The City of Tulsa will send rebates to recipients after the Oklahoma Tax Commission has verified income eligibility and the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety has verified age eligibility. This process will begin after the April 18 tax filing deadline and will take several months beyond that. Some Tulsa residents may not receive their rebates until August or September 2011.

The rebate will be available for four years. It is necessary to re-apply each year.
