Lead the Pack at Tulsa Zoo’s St. John ZooRun

Race past tigers, giraffes and bears on your way to the finish line at St. John ZooRun on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Tulsa Zoo. The 49th annual family friendly race features a 5k and 10k, plus the St. John 1-mile Fun Run.

Admission for the whole herd is part of the fun. Until 10 a.m., family members of participants can enter the zoo for free to cheer on runners at the finish line. After the race, runners can enjoy this year’s hospitality area with the St. John Fun Run Fun Zone, educational activities, face painting and more.

“My family and I have been running together in different races all year, but we are looking forward to this fun and unique course,” said Zookeeper Eric Flossic. “I can’t wait to run past the rhino and giraffes on our way to the finish line! No other 5k allows me to see the animals I care for while running with the people I care about most.”

To help children get a strong start, the Tulsa Zoo supports 25-plus area schools by donating $1 back for every school group entry. The zoo gave back to schools more than $1,000 from last year’s event.

For 49 years, the St. John ZooRun has benefited the Tulsa Zoo. Proceeds from this year’s event will support the Building Beyond Your Wildest Dreams capital campaign, funding exhibits like the Lost Kingdom exhibit complex.

The annual run event would not be possible without generous sponsors, including Title Sponsor: St. John Health System a part of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and nonprofit health system; Packet Pick-Up Sponsor: New Balance Tulsa; Individual Sponsors: Linda Brown – real estate and Robert E. Patterson; Water Stop Sponsor: Admiral Express; Hospitality Sponsors: Brookside Nutrition, Java Dave’s Executive Coffee, Snacks, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Panera Bread, Taste of the Wild Catering, and The Melting Pot.
