Leaders Inaugurated


LEADERSHIP: Inauguration ceremonies for the 2009-2011 Tulsa Mayor, Council and City Auditor were held Monday, Dec. 7 in the new Tulsa Ballroom of Tulsa Civic Center. The public was invited to the first event held in the newly remodeled Convention Center.

All City of Tulsa elected officials were sworn in. The photo was taken during the Pledge of Allegiance, which was led by Rick Brinkley, left, president and of the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Oklahoma. From left in the front row are Mayor Dewey Bartlett and City Councilors-elect G.T. Bynum (District 9), Bill Christiansen (District 8), John Eagleton (District 7), James Mautino (District 6), Chris Trail (District 5), Maria Barnes (District 4), Roscoe Turner (District 3), Rick Westcott (District 2) and Jack Henderson (District 1). Preston Doerflinger was sworn in as Tulsa’s City Auditor.

The welcome and opening and closing remarks were by Brinkley. Presentation of Colors was by Boy Scouts of America Troop 222. The invocation was by Marlin Lavanhar, All Souls Unitarian Church. Administration of the Oath of Office was by The Honorable Gregory K. Frizzell, Judge, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Oklahoma. Bill Scheer, pastor of Guts Church, gave the prayer for the elected officials.

The first meeting of the 2009-2011 Tulsa City Council was held immediately after the ceremonies in the Greenwood Room, located west of the Tulsa Ballroom inside the Convention Center. The Council elected its new chairman and vice chairman during that meeting. A reception immediately followed the inauguration.
