Lelia McCoy has been named president and chief executive officer of Valley National Bank. McCoy joined the bank in February 1997 and assumed the presidency this March.
Valley National Bank was established in February of 1982 at the northwest corner of 81st Street and Yale Avenue in Tulsa. The philosophy at the founding of the bank continues to this day: to be a locally owned and operated full service financial institution. The philosophy has paid great dividends over the 28 years of operation.
The bank has grown significantly both fiscally as well as physically through the years. Today it has assets of $235 million, loans of $165 million, and deposits of $215 million.
Four locations serve its customers in greater Tulsa. The locations include 81st Street and Yale Avenue, which opened across the street from the original location in 2005; 2020 E. 21st St. which opened in December 1997; 61st Street and Highway 169, which opened in May 2002, and the Bixby location, which opened at 131st Street and Memorial Drive in 2009.

After graduating with her in 1977, McCoy obtained a position with First National Bank and Trust Company of Tulsa, then a stalwart bank in Tulsa. She was fortunate to be a member of that bank’s first training program, specializing in commercial lending. She stayed at First National until 1983, when she moved to Fourth National Bank, also a Tulsa tradition at that time, where she became vice president and commercial lending officer.
She joined Valley National Bank in 1997 as senior vice president.
She is married to Mike McCoy and they have two sons, Matt and Scott, both graduates of Jenks High School and the University of Oklahoma. Their daughter-in-law, Brittany McCoy is an native and OU graduate.
