Lindsay, Cobb Set Home Run Marks in Tulsa Softball Split vs. Arkansas Wednesday
TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa softball team scored 13 runs on 13 hits on its way to a 13-2 win in five innings over Arkansas in game one of a doubleheader Wednesday at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex. The Golden Hurricane (19-14) fell to the Razorbacks (22-12) in game two, 3-1.
Lauren Lindsay tied the school record for home runs in a season with her 15th, and Samantha Cobb broke the school record for home runs by a freshman with her 11th. Lindsay hit 15 home runs as a sophomore in 2008, tying the school mark originally set by Katie Torres in 2004.
Senior Jackie Lawrence (7-5) picked up the win for the Hurricane in game one, going the distance and allowing just four hits, two earned runs, two walks and five strikeouts. Starter Layne McGuirt took the loss for Arkansas, and pitched 2.0 innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs and one walk.
Junior Jordan Kinard (5-6) absorbed the loss for Tulsa in game two, pitching 6.0 innings, and allowing six hits, two runs, two walks and had two strikeouts. Arkansas’ Chelsea Cohen (2-0) earned the win, giving up hits, one run and two walks.
The Golden Hurricane has the weekend off and returns to action Tuesday, April 6, as it plays host to Wichita State in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at the Hardesty Complex.
