News Editor at Large Terrell Lester offers praise for the Lion King Broadway production running through July 7 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center ().
If you have never, ever experienced a Broadway production, you must see “The Lion King.”
Even if you have taken in several Broadway productions, you must see “The Lion King.”
Commanding the stage of the downtown Performing Arts Center through July 7, “The Lion King” is a once-in-a-lifetime, not-to-be-missed event.
The staging, the costuming, the movement, the all-encompassing rapture. This is an adventure to be lived. Certainly not to be missed. The national touring company that has set up shop for 37 performances in Tulsa has raised the curtain on a mesmerizing production.
It has been billed as “Broadway’s Landmark Musical.” It should be billed as “The World’s Landmark Musical.”
Forget the film version. Put aside any and all notions of what you might perceive as entertainment. The stage production at the Performing Arts Center will be the most memorable visual treat you will ever experience.
