Local Business to Help Police Get K9
BIXBY, . (December 20, 2010) Advantage Motors will hold an auction this Wednesday to benefit the Bixby Police Department. The Bixby Police Department lost its only K9 earlier this year.
A trained K9 costs about $10,000. So far the city has raised about $3,000.
Upon learning about the need of the department, Advantage Motors owner Roger Chasteen decided it would be a good opportunity for his company help the community. “Our business is new to Bixby. We plan to be here for a long time, and public safety is a good investment, and a great way to partner,” said Chasteen. “Officer Henderson needs a K9 partner, and that’s what we want to accomplish.”
Chasteen understands the importance of public safety as he serves the Tulsa Police Department as a reserve officer.
Officer Scott Henderson has been without a K9 partner for months. “Dogs are an integral part of police departments. From detecting drugs and explosives to chasing suspects – they are truly invaluable,” said Officer Henderson. “On behalf of the Bixby Police Department, I want to thank Roger and his staff for their generosity.”
The auction will take place on Wednesday, December 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Advantage Motors located at 11833 S. Memorial Drive.
