The first-ever QuikTrip Air and Rocket Racing Show, hosted by the Tulsa Air and Space Museum (TASM), was held at Tulsa International Airport on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Many ofTulsa’s premier companies partnered with the museum to make this show a reality and to share in the vision of Tulsa’s aerospace future.
“We realize that this event is one more component in attracting the space shuttle to Tulsa,” said QuikTrip CEO, Chet Cadieux when asked about QuikTrip’s involvement. “It is also a great event for our city and for the families who attend. We understand the educational benefits of both this event and the programs and exhibits of the Tulsa Air & Space Museum.” Cadieux also acknowledged the importance of supporting the aviation industry, “My dad and I are both pilots, and our QuikTrip Aviation department has been an integral part of QuikTrip’s successful operation for more than 30 years.”
Tulsa’s largest employer, American Airlines, supported the show in many different capacities. “American Airlines has been a strong supporter of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum since its inception,” said Community Relations Manager, Rose Turk. “We believe in the museum’s mission and fully support an event that will highlight Tulsa as a city of aerospace excellence.”
One of the show’s major media sponsors, 2NEWS Works For You, broadcasted live from the event and treated attendees to the station’s annual weather show. “2 Works for You is really excited to be a part of the QuikTrip Air and Rocket Racing Show” said 2NEWS Works for You Vice President and General Manager Mike Vrabac. “Our city has such a rich history with aviation and this event extends that relationship. I’m sure it will be a great event and KJRH will be there to provide coverage that our viewers have come to expect.”
