Long-Driver Sean Fister to Appear at Golf Expo

Three-time world long drive champion Sean “The Beast” Fister will be among the celebrities appearing at the South Central Golf & Travel Expo Feb. 9-11 at the Expo Center at Expo Square.
Fister won the Long Drivers Association event as recently as 2005, becoming the oldest to do so at age 43. His longest recorded drive is 515 yards with a highest recorded swing speed of 171 mph. He will be giving demonstrations at noon and 4 p.m. on both Friday Feb. 9 and Saturday Feb. 10.
The Expo will be on the lower level of Expo Square, while the Tulsa Women’s Living Expo is on the upper level at the same time. This represents a new location for the Expo, which previously was held at the UMAC at Union High School.
Hours for the show will be 11 a.m. to 6 on Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 on Sunday. Tickets are $8, but just $5 with a discount coupon available at all area Arbys locations. In addition, children 12 and under are free. Families who want to attend both events can get $2 discounts by presenting their ticket from either event at the other.
Attendees will once again be able to find great bargains on golf equipment and apparel as well as information on many different travel destinations and courses from within the region.
For those looking to test their skills, there will be the Bailey Ranch & Battle Creek/Duragreens Putting Contest, which includes a grand prize one-year, weekday membership to Bailey Ranch and Battle Creek.
There will also be the Momentus Golf Power Hitter Long Drive Contest, which will award daily prizes to the longest drive in seniors, men, women and juniors categories.
Major club manufacturers will also be represented at the show in the Cherokee Casino Demo Area, where golfers can test new clubs before they are available nationwide.
Another great feature is the many different pros who will give free seminars and clinics. Renowned instructors such as Marshall Smith and Tracy Phillips are among the top area instructors slated to speak at the show.
Tickets will be available at the door for $8, but there will be $3 discount coupons available at area Arby’s. Included in the admission is a one-year subscription to Golf Digest. Those who are already subscribers can choose from Golf for Women or Golf World.
